Uncharitable thoughts...
Just a quick musing.......
For those many many vegetarians who insist on heralding animal rights, exactly why is it so wrong to eat meat and yet a woman's right to abort a fetus should be perserved? I'm talking only in terms of those who wish to use termination as a 'method' of birth control. It needs to be stated that for those with health issues for themselves or the unborn baby, abortion is a deeply personal and difficult decision. However, for those who see abortion as a means to an end (for contraception and preservation of current lifestyle), how exactly does abortion differ so greatly from the consumption of meat?
I'm no "Right-to-Lifer" as unfortunately there is a need for abortion in some circumstances. Yet it would seem to me that if sanctioning the killing and consumption of animal flesh is so intolerable, the termination of a human life for purposes of contraception would be equally despicable. If we do not hold the right to kill an innocent animal at whim, where exactly in THE manual does it state that aborting a human life (for no other reason than the mother happened to be careless and irresponsible) is acceptable???

I agree. I don't quite get vegetarians who are pro-choice. I'm certainly not one of them. I'm not entirely pro-life though either and reluctantly say I am somewhat on the fence on that issue.
I 100% agree with you though, that using an abortion as a means of birth control to maintain one's lifestyle does not correlate with protecting animals. A vegan who wont eat an egg that dropped out of a chicken that was happily roaming in their yard can't turn around and be pro-choice.
