The Etiquette of EFTPOS

I am not entirely sure if there is an etiquette to using EFTPOS, but maybe there should be. Granted, when people don't carry cash on them, EFTPOS is handy means of purchasing an item and withdrawing funds at the same time. But thinking back to when I used to commute via rail to the city reminds me of standing in line to purchase a newspaper ($1.10 and I had the correct change) and waiting for the guy in front of me to order and receive his coffee and as the train pulls into the station and the human crush begins, pay for it by EFTPOS. Is this considered okay? When you have more than 2 people waiting in line behind you and you can see they want to purchase one item with cash, wouldn't it be courtesy to allow them in front of you, instead of forcing them to wait for you to remember your PIN, stuff it up, enter it again twice incorrectly and then watch them sigh with irritation as they watch the train they should've been on pull away from the platform?

I often ponder on this kind of etiquette when I am stuck behind people delaying me for a variety of reasons. I have come the conclusion that while you or I will probably do our best to keep things moving, the fact is, when it's your turn, the haste you felt and the dissection of the situation and how things could have been done better somewhat evaporates once your transaction is at hand. I have have PIN issues and felt bad about it, but what can I do? The man who needs to use EFTPOS might have no choice and could be jumping back forever until it's his turn. I understand your frustration and believe me, my blood boils thinking about your plight, but it's one of those things where I feel the problem is with me and my impatience and I need to chill out. Doesn't mean it's going to happen though...
